Hard-learned lessons of combat
medicine are coming home to roost as Tactical
Combat Casualty Care protocols are now being adapted to Wilderness
Medicine, Law Enforcement, EMS and even Home Medical use. The
Committee for Tactical
Emergency Casualty Care (C-TECC) is making great strides
toward the realization of the benefits that can be derived from the lessons of
combat, and we enthusiastically support their effort. Trauma
treatment is evolving; military field
protocols are being modified and adapted to the needs of mainstream EMS, and today,
the flow of information is so accelerated that it might only takes weeks or
months to fully implement life-saving changes.
Technologies and procedures that are
borne of the extreme requirements of today’s combat troops are rapidly finding
applications here on the home front. Many Law Enforcement entities are adopting
