The Phokus Research non-woven gauze bandage offers advantages over traditional gauze products in several ways. It is z-folded like other products for ease of use, but the Phokus Research Group product is extremely compact in its vacuum pouch; less than ½" thick, but is a full 3" x 4 yds. It is Berry Compliant (made in USA) and could be used as training gauze (the package is the same dimensions and has a similar feel to combat gauze).

New packaging
Z-fold gauze is nothing new but the packaging of this product fills a nice niche. It is exactly the same dimensions and packaging material as is seen in the z-fold quick clot combat gauze which means it is durable and you can trust it will stay sterile even when beat around. So it gives a great thin profile which works well in custom med kits and allows for extra room for other supplies or extra gauze. Most other compressed gauze products are much bulkier and make assembly of a compact trauma/med kit tricky when space is limited. Plus if you are on a budget you can go with this instead of the $45 quick clot combat gauze in the same style med kit [note that this is NOT a hemostatic gauze, just a similar size]. Only reason I did not give it 5 stars is I would like to see the price point come down to the 3-4 dollar range. But overall I was excited to play with this unique product and was not disappointed with the options it gave me when assembling med kits.
