This is the same as the regular Olaes® 4" bandage, except that it is flat (about 1" thick) in conformance with the newer protocol for flatter bandages.
The Tactical Medical Solutions 4" Olaes® Modular Bandage is the newest generation of trauma bandages and is advantageous for all levels of care providers. Packed with features such as 3 meters of gauze, a removable occlusive plastic sheet behind the dressing pad, and a pressure cup that can also act as an eye cup, the advanced capabilities of the bandage are tucked neatly away and can be utilized or ignored. No hooks or clips to confuse or delay care. Velcro® 'Control' strips prevent the elastic roll from accidentally unraveling and secure the bandage throughout the application process.
Designed with direct input from some of the most experienced combat medics in the world, no detail has been left out. From the adhesive 'brakes' on the elastic bandage that prevent accidental unrolling, to the zig-zag packed gauze that easily feeds from the bandage, this is the most comprehensive feature packed bandage available without any added confusion. No other bandage offers so much versatility in such a small package. Cover minor wounds, apply truly effective pressure dressings, apply occlusive dressings, and have the ability to pack severe wounds with one bandage.
During high stress situations, such as those involving casualties, stress effects on human performance often affect the fine motor skills of individuals. This makes simple tasks such as bandage application more difficult and time consuming. By creating a bandage where application involves only gross motor skills, no direction changes around hooks or bars, the Olaes® Modular Bandage offers a more effective solution in bandage options. The elastic simply requires wrapping, where the elastic stays flat instead of turning into a cord. Control of the elastic roll is maintained by the 'Control Strips' should the elastic be dropped. You no longer have to open or carry a package of gauze and a separate bandage, as both are included.
A TRUE PRESSURE CUP
The unique pressure cup generates true focused pressure on top of the wound site where it is required, not circumferential pressure. By generating this focused pressure it helps occlude damaged vessels at the wound site where it is needed. It also reduces the amount of manual pressure required to be held, freeing up the care provider to treat other injuries or casualties. The pressure cup can also be removed and used as an eye cup for treatment of ocular injuries as recommended in the new TCCC guidelines.

I got the lite rip-away IFAK(FILLED), from R.E., and it came with a smaller one of these. So, I got a bigger one to fill out my Combat Lifesaver MES bag. Both items are top of the line! (I wish OLAES would make an OD tactical shoulder Patch, I like the logo a lot) And, saving lives!
Great price. Packs easily since it is vacuumed. Fulfills many rolls so you don't need a ton of different dressings in your bag. Works like an Israeli, a Z-pack gauze, a compression dressing. It also opens easily. I am not sure the plastic cup makes a huge difference but it likely does focus pressure to some degree.
I have these in a bag carried all the time for SWAT. They keep the bag light but fulfill any job I would need them to do.
We purchased these for our Tac Vest IFAK it is a great fit with the fold flat design
This is great for trauma kits that need to be compact. A pressure dressing, occlusive sheet, and gauze all in a very thin package. This along with 2 Tk-4s, and hemostatic gauze takes up a small space and could treat many different injuries.
Buckeye Emergency Response Training School staff wear a lot of hats. From being EMS (EMT & Paramedic levels), Firefighters, Backpackers, Expidition Leaders, Wilderness Search and Rescue Advanced level Technicians, Water rescue, Hunters, and the list goes on.
In our medical courses we teach, tell our students if we could only cary one item for first aid, it would be the 4" OLEAS. All our instructors agree. It is hands down the best single triage system all-in-one we have tested. We include one in all the kits we give our advanced level medical courses students because we teach, we think it is that valuable. When weight and space are critical to packing, the OLEAS meets the need. When we carry a full EMS jump kit into a Search and Rescue mission and have all the bells and whistles available, we still have no less than one OLEAS per team member too. They work.
