The new and improved ARS® for Needle Decompression from North American Rescue is the result of a two year collaboration with pre-hospital providers and data obtained from ongoing combat operations. Our patented design increases the likelihood of success in the management of casualties who present signs and symptoms of a tension pneumothorax. An easy opening container protects the needle from damage during deployment. Also the flash cap from the needle system has been removed to allow for immediate confirmation of placement. Through the use of Analytical Thinking, Evidence-Based Medicine and Human Factors Engineering, inherent survival stress behaviors were identified, and fail-safe characteristics implemented into the product design.
Available in 14 gauge or 10 gauge: 10 gauge is approx. 60% larger in diameter than the 14 gauge.

Needle for decompression
I bought this for personal use as it is beyond my scope of practice as a WFR. As such, I hope never to use it, but it is exactly what I wanted.

I wanted one of the newer 10 ga needles and this was one of the few sites that carry it.

Valuable Tool
Excellent tool if it is needed. Just make sure you know what you're doing. This needle is nicely packaged in a ridged container with a little pocket clip that comes in handy for storing the needle. Only reason for 4 stars is that I have not had to use this needle. However, based on reputation of this manufacturer, it should be excellent when in use.

Decompression needle
Well, what to say - one of those products you buy and pray you never actually have to use it!!! I bought this as an add in for an indivual first aid kit (IFAK) along with other products I believe should have been included in that kit. An excellent product and in a prepackage container that fit GREAT in the IFAK.
