A compact and affordable approach to bleeding control, the Individual Response Kit (IRK) was developed in cooperation with the Central Georgia’s Region F Healthcare Preparedness Coalition and the Region 5 Regional Trauma Advisory Council for a school preparedness initiative. A convenient approach to bleeding control, the IRK II is intended to provide "non-traditional" lay responders (i.e. teachers and other individuals without extensive medical training) a compact kit with the means and ability to stop life-threatening bleeding and provide basic, potentially life-saving care prior to the arrival of professional rescuers.

Needs a sucking wound vent seal.

    Posted by Bruce on 10 30 2017

Good kit, addressing shock, CPR and bleeding. Would much rather have a vent seal than a triangular bandage Rescue Essentials: This kit is intended for use by laypersons - primarily school teachers - rather than trained EMS personnel. Few such people are trained in the use of chest seals, and those who are can improvise a chest seal from the occlusive bag and the combat medic tape. Including a purpose-built vented chest seal would raise the cost by at least 30%, making it unaffordable to entities wishing to place large numbers of kits in classrooms.

    Missing items...

No antiseptic towelettes, iodine prep pads, petrolatum as these items in my opinion are important in a emergency.it would be nice to have already .This kit is cool but NEEDS ADJUSTMENTS. Note from RE: This kit is not intended to treat "boo-boos" at all, but rather ONLY life-threatening bleeds or airway issues.
