A highly durable trauma shear that cuts like shark’s teeth. Literally.

In an emergency, every second counts. When it comes to saving lives, trauma shears are an indispensable piece of gear. When seconds mean the difference between life and death, you want to be equipped with the best tool for the job.

HÉROS Shears were conceived by Scott Forman, M.D., an emergency physician, avid adventurer and former international mountain guide. Frustrated with the poor design and disposable quality of standard trauma shears, Scott set out to create a tool worthy of the profession. After developing prototypes in his garage in New Mexico, Scott teamed with Sandia National Laboratories to take his product to the next level.

The HÉROS Shear you see today is the result of over 10 years of labor and love, refined based on feedback from EMTs, physicians, nurses, firefighters and other valiant warriors. The HÉROS Shears blade was inspired by the bite of a great white shark. Sharks' teeth have a unique serration pattern that makes them powerful shearing machines. We replicated that serration pattern in the HÉROS blades so you’ll have that same cutting efficiency every time. HÉROS Shears are the most effective tool for the job. Designed to be by your side season after season, they are feature-filled enough to be one of your favorite (and most bad-ass) pieces of gear.

I work on a emergency ambulance The shears are amazing I have used a few different high end trauma shears these and the blade better than anything iv used before definitely gonna cut though what ever i come across but the holster is cheap and crap worst one iv ever used not easy to get in need two hands to pull it out made of cheap plastic and holster was broken by the end of the first day at work I love the shears 5 out of 5 so gonna get a custom made holster for them recommend the shears don't buy the holster hopefully they redesign the holster and give these shears justice.

    Holster is Trash

Posted by Kurt Smith on 08 12 2022

The shears are great. No issues whatsoever. The holster, however, is absolute trash. It is made of cheap, brittle plastic and the shears must be perfectly aligned before inserting or extracting from the holster, otherwise it binds up and won’t go in or out. Furthermore, the holster has windows in it so when I grabbed hold of the holster to get the shears out (because it was stuck) I sliced my fingers with the line cutter through the windows of the holster. Holsters are supposed to be able to deploy and redeploy a piece of equipment as quickly as possible. This holster fails on all accounts. I’m going to end up making my own because the stock holster is that worthless. Whoever authorized the holster design for production needs a serious sit down because he’s asleep at the wheel. Again, great shears. The holster is a failure which reduces the overall effectiveness of the product.

    Hero Shears

The Heros Shears are awesome… a work of art. No issues at all with the shears themselves. The HOLSTER, however, is absolute trash. It’s made of brittle, cheap plastic. The shears can only be inserted and removed in a very carefully aligned orientation or it will get hung up on the draw and reholstering. This is not how holsters are supposed to work. I’m going to end up fabricating my own holster out of kydex. I don’t know someone would create an awesome tool like this and ship it with an accessory that is not at the same quality. Again, shears awesome. Holster trash!

    Heros trauma shears

Much larger than I thought. Very sturdy and sharp. The shears themselves are very well built, but the plastic sheath/holster is cumbersome and does not fit the shears well -- do not recommend the holster.

    Great Product For The ED

Posted by Ruben Torrez on 01 25 2022

These shears have been great to have as a medical resident working in the emergency department. They’re on the larger size compared to other shears that you might find, but it really helps add leverage for cutting through thick clothing and other stuff we encounter in the ED. Solid product.
