i-gel is the innovative second generation supraglottic airway from Intersurgical, launched in 2007. The first major development since the laryngeal mask airway, the i-gel changed the face of airway management and is now widely used in anaesthesia and resuscitation across the globe. The i-gel O2 Resus Pack puts the things you need at your fingertips: an i-gel O2, with an easily removable inner tray, containing a sachet of lubricant, an airway support strap and suction tube, all packaged in a specially designed clear, sterile, rigid pack. This unique design ensures protection of the contents, both in transit and in storage. The i-gel O2 has a color coded hook ring to allow quick and easy identification of size.

What makes i-gel unique?

i-gel has a soft, gel-like, non-inflatable cuff, designed to provide an anatomical, impression fit over the laryngeal inlet. The shape, softness and contours accurately mirror the perilaryngeal anatomy. This innovative concept means that no cuff inflation is required.

The i-gel works in harmony with the patient’s anatomy so that compression and displacement trauma are significantly reduced or eliminated.

Why use i-gel?
•Ease and speed of insertion
•Reduced trauma
•Superior seal pressure
•Gastric access
•Integral bite block
•Non-inflatable cuff

The i-gel O2 Resus Pack is available in three Adult Sizes:

    Trusty #5

Posted by Bryan Hunter on 04 21 2023

I work for an organization that's not well prepared. I bought the #4 and #5 just in case. That case was a bearded patient in need of an airway. Neither NPA nor OPA will be effective on a bearded vic due to the lack of a seal. So, enter the iGel. It goes in just like the instructions state and the videos show. Be sure to lubricate the spine well. Also be sure you have trained to suction the device prior to use. The device maintained it's seal and provided adequate ventilation throughout the resuscitation.

excellent and easy to place. does not require syringe to inflate. suction is best with liquid solution. especially while performing high performance CPR until you have opportunity to DL/VL for definitive airway/ETT
