Celox™ is a Chitosan-based hemostatic agent, widely deployed within military and special operations. It is now available in convenient, easy-to-open, 2 gram packages. The 2 gram packs are contained in a re-sealable plastic pouch.

Average Time to Clot Whole Blood: 30.5 Seconds. Average Time to Clot Heparinized Blood: 48 Seconds. Controls Major Arterial Bleeding.

Celox has repeatedly demonstrated the ability to rapidly control major arterial bleeding (without cautery) from traumatic wounds. The granular presentation provides a simple, quick way to control bleeding and is particularly useful in treating difficult and deep wounds. A clot forms within minutes after pouring the product into the wound. Excess granules form a gelled mass to protect the clot. The gelled material is easy to remove. Celox is non-exothermic (will not burn patients), and works even with hypothermic patients and on heparinized blood.

DYNAMIC APPLICATIONS

  • No Heat Generated - Celox does not generate any heat, produce burning. Works in Hypothermic Conditions - Celox works whether blood temperature is 98.7F (37.05C) or 65.4 F (18.5C).
  • Lightweight, Portable, Easy to Administer - Celox granules are lightweight, packaged in sterilized, sealed packets which are easy and fast to open.
  • Celox is poured into the wound and held down with gauze for 5 minutes. A compression bandage is then wrapped over the gauze covered wound and patient is transported.
  • Long shelf life.
  • Easy to remove from the wound.

Celox is easy to use (just pour, pack and apply pressure), very safe (tested to class 3 CE Mark standards) and extremely effective. When mixed with blood, Celox™ forms a robust gel-like clot in 30 seconds. It works independently of the body’s normal clotting processes. Celox’s clotting ability has been proven to work in the cold (hypothermia) or in the presence of common anti-coagulants such as warfarin. It generates no heat and will not burn the casualty or care giver.

Safety Testing

The chitosan in Celox is a specific high quality grade selected for medical use from a shellfish source. Chitosan is made up of glucosamine and N-acetyl glucosamine, which are naturally occurring sugars in the body.It has been tested for allergic reaction on humans with a known fish or shrimp hypersensitivity and none of the subjects showed any skin reaction to the chitosan. Celox has had thousands of successful uses since first launched in 2006 with no adverse events reported.

    Excellent product for small injuries

Posted by Calvin Rikard on 08 10 2022

This is an excellent product for quickly stopping bleeding from small cuts and abrasions. For larger injuries I use the 15 gram package of celox. Quickly clots blood without any side effects.

    Celox

I like this product because of its reputation and that is derived from nature. Also because of its unlikelihood to cause patients to have an allergic reaction once it is applied to a wound.

Wanted to have as part of our home first aid kit. Its piece of mind should we ever need it.

Great price and size for a hemostatic agent

Posted by Jeffery Sullivan on 07 24 2018

We all think about big trauma when we build our kits - gunshots, stabbings, etc. But it's the less lethal accidents that will happen more often and this product is just right for those injuries. The packets are easy to pack in almost any kit and are big enough for those injuries that need more than direct pressure without being big enough for packing.

Great Small Size for Smaller Wounds

    Posted by Richard on 07 02 2016

I got this for a general first aid kit for smaller wounds which are not major traumatic injuries. The size is just the right size for use in smaller cuts which may be persistent bleeders without the necessity of some serious intervention. This little packet, along with some appropriate pressure and a good bandage should be just right for many first aid kits. Be aware that the packages are fairly small so this would not fit into the same category of hemostatic as Combat Gauze. Nevertheless, a nice size for those nasty little cuts that want to really bleed.
